Our Staff

Fr. Irwin grew up in Montgomery, Alabama. He has one sister, Allison, who lives in Birmingham with her husband Charles Rumore and their ten children. His parents, Mike and Lynne Irwin live in Montgomery along with his large extended family. Growing up he attended St. Bede School for his first eight years followed by Montgomery Catholic High School from which he graduated in 1988. He went on to study Civil Engineering at Auburn University and graduated in 1993. After college he volunteered in youth ministry with NET Ministries for a year followed by two years of studies in Theology and Philosophy at Franciscan University of Steubenville in Ohio. The following year he began formal training for the priesthood at St. Joseph’s Seminary College near Covington, LA. Finally, he was sent to Rome for five years of major seminary and was ordained to the priesthood in June of 2001. His assignments have been: he was the parochial vicar (assistant to the pastor) at St. Pius X, Mobile from 2002 to 2004 and St. Columba in Dothan from 04’– 08’; he was the Parochial Administrator of Christ the King in Andalusia from 07’– 08’; and he was the pastor at St. Vincent de Paul in Mobile 08’– 10’, St. Martin of Tours in Troy, (Pastor and Campus Minister for Troy University) from 10’– 19’, and Our Lady of Guadalupe in Wetumpka 19’ – 22’. His hobbies include hiking, rafting, and camping. He was an avid water-skier (now retired!) as well.
